Welcome to One Small Step - the podcast of Astroviz.com
There are many excellent science podcasts out there - so why another one? The straightforward answer is why not - there are always new ways to present information and just like news channels and sports teams we all have our favourites.
So why One Small Step? Obviously it relates in part to the quote from Neil Armstrong as he set foot on the Moon, but it is also an indication that the discipline of astronomy advances in small steps. Astronomy utilises a range of tools and techniques to understand the universe, but our knowledge grows only through repeated observation and analysis of data. Although the pace of research is accelerating it still takes a decade or more for new theories and understanding to emerge.
One Small Step, therefore, is a semi-frequent podcast on the building blocks of astronomy with an occasional sprinkling of topical news. Each podcast is available for download in a range of standard formats as well as a rough transcript of the episode.

The debut series of podcasts takes a journey through time to look at the very origins of astronomy and how it has involved into the modern highly technical discipline.
