About

AstroViz is essentially an astronomy blog and podcast with some additional resources added that hopefully help visitors to the site to discover more about astronomy.

Like many such ventures is a spare-time enterprise and that means updates never occur as frequently as I would like!

If you have any questions please send an email.

Site Design

The site is built in Drupal and I maintain the site include customisation of design and adding new modules. The site is hosted by Inmotion Hosting

Site Updates

September 2010

  • Memo to self - next time you upgrade make sure you have all style sheet code somewhere otherwise you have to redesign it!
  • Experimented with GoingUp web tracking, but now disabled as it killed the site and was vastly over optimistic on traffic numbers
  • Added book of the week

May 2010

  • I must be something right. Over the weekend the site got hacked by some dodgy Indian company. Apologies for those struggling to access via search engines.
  • Google removed adverts because as they put it...your AdSense account poses a risk of generating invalid activity.
I am not sure exactly what this means, but think that Google decided I was clicking on the adverts. I wasn't. I have asked for an explanation and, unsurprisingly, I haven't yet received one.

March 2010

  • Had one episode of a podcast...must write the next
  • Using Woopra to track site traffic

Jan 2010
To keep the site fresh various changes have been made:

  • Blog feed is now on left
  • Right column is used for social bookmarking and site search options
